What Wood Is Used by Experienced Carpenters
The Different Types of Wood Used by a Professional Cabinet Maker
Although people these days prefer to remodel their kitchens with cheap materials, wood will always be the primary choice for most. Every professional cabinet maker on the market can make cabinetry of MDF materials, but professionals value the qualities of real wood. These days, if you search for a while, you can find a good deal on quality timber. D.F. Custom Cabinets has listed a few wood types which are ideal for your new kitchen cabinets.
Oak
This type of wood is quite durable and quite affordable. There are two types of Oak which are used in commercial services; red and white. Red Oak is a favorite among professionals for manufacturing stock and semi-custom cabinets. On the other hand, its white counterpart is slightly more durable and preferred for all-custom project. Although from the same family, every Oak type has its own grain pattern and unique properties.
Hard Maple
Although a bit less dense than Oak, Maple comes in a very light color, which allows a cabinet maker to perform a number of modifications on it. For example, its natural light color and material properties allow it to be stained in a variety of colors and patterns. Depending on your personal preference, you can choose a lighter or darker tone for your new kitchen.
Pine
Considered to be the only softwood to be used for cabinetry, Pine wood looks incredible; however, it is very susceptible to accidental dents. This is why, if you are considering using pine wood for your remodeling project, make sure that you place anything made of pine above average height.
Other Rare Woods
African black wood, birdseye maple, rosewood, mahogany… these, and many others, are considered to be very rare and expensive. Professional carpenters and cabinet makers consider it a privilege to work with rare woods.
There is an incredible number of wood species which can be used for the creation of furniture and cabinetry. If you want to find out more, feel free to contact our Hayward, CA office. We will gladly provide you with all the information you need!
